Diamondback

Just got a couple things of Diamondback Black.  I dig the label.

Not sure what they mean by *For Black Powder Firearms Only*…….since I use black in all my firearms.

For the past 2 years, I’ve been using GOEX, real black.  Recently found this brand at a very affordable price, but the shipping and hazmat kinda hurts.  Then again, on the plus side, I don’t have to deal some old man telling me I can’t use real black in plastic shot shells cause I’ll blow up the gun…….whatever……

While I’m no expert with black, and I’m sure this will work out fine for what I need it for, I have already noticed it is not dusty like GOEX.  I was recently told that that *dust* is actually graphite which helps with management of moisture.  I’m just not a big fan of it cause this *dust* get’s everywhere while loading cartridges and shot shells.

Why use black powder in a firearm that wasn’t designed with it in mind? It’s dirty as hell, you have to clean, clean, clean, then clean some more, it lacks the power / burn rate / etc of modern gunpowder – I mean, other than the smell and the hipster ‘so old school it’s cool now’ aspects… What does it have going for it?

    • Mark,
Why buy anything other than a Glock? It’s affordable, high quality, easy to use, easy to repair, and so ubiquitous that finding parts and accessories for it is always easy. I mean, other than a metrosexual obsession with cosmetics, why would you get anything else?

        My thoughts exactly! 😛

I just say this because I’ve had the joy of cleaning Sharp’s 50 cal black powder rifles every evening for a few months straight. Really opened my eyes to the joys of modern low-residue gunpowder. That and the joy of trying to be accurate with a .50 cal ball round. Makes big holes, but compared to modern rifles, much harder to accurately hit things. Even modern rifles with iron sights.
